I am a 26 year old native of Portland, OR. I got my start in photography in high school and really became passionate
about the medium while I was attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. It was in
Bellingham that I was introduced to large format black and white photography through the generous and incredibly
knowledgeable mentoring of local photographer Gary Meader. Meader taught me everything that I know
today about the medium, and is directly responsible for my understanding of the fundamentals of photography
as a tool for expressive fine art. Gary, aside from being a wonderful photographer himself, continues to mentor me as
I develop my own work, and him and his wife have become lifelong friends.
In August of 2006, I was selected out of a national pool of applicants to attend an all expense paid photographic
workshop in Friday Harbor taught by Rod Dresser and Huntington Witherill and sponsored by Freestyle
Photographic. It was here that I formed a relationship with Witherill, who has instilled in me the disciplined
approach to printing that I attempt to convey in my own work.
I look forward to getting my work out for more people to see, and am very humbled by all those who take the
time to look at my photographs. Thank you for your time.
